The Bleakley family took over private ownership of the marina in late 2006. Situated on the non tidal stretch of the river ouse just 4 miles south of the historic city of York. It is situated only a short distance from Naburn locks and serves both novice and experienced boaters equally well with many miles of safe scenic waterways - North to Ripon, and for the more adventurous the southern waterways and canal systems of the River Aire, Leeds-Liverpool Canal, Sheffield and South Yorkshire Canals, River Trent, Foss Dyke and Witham. The tidal Ouse will take you down the Humber, North Sea and beyond.

York Marina features over 300 fully serviced moorings/berths, new, used and brokerage boat sales, chandlery, boat yard services and marine engineering.

gain UVDB Category B2 Approval

James Troop and Company Ltd has been approved by Achilles to the UVDB Category B2 standard. Achilles manages the Utilities Vendor DataBase (UVDB) on behalf of over 175 companies in the utilities sector which covers the power generation, transmission and distribution, nuclear, water, tele-communications and gas industries.

The Achilles scheme provides Utilities’ buyers with an information system for identifying and selecting potential suppliers, through to pre-qualifying, evaluating and performance monitoring them, each of which are important stages in the continuous management of risk throughout the supply chain.

The Company sought approval to the UVDB scheme in order to pre-qualify to tender for new contracts with both existing and new customers. The Achilles audit process, which was spread over two full days in June, examined in depth both our internal management systems (Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental) and how our Service Engineers actually operate on a customer site.

We were pleased to pass the Achilles assessment at the first attempt and following our successful accreditation we have already received several invitations to tender from major utility companies.

In addition to providing new and increased business opportunities, the Company regards accreditation to the Achilles UVDB scheme as a valuable driver in promoting health and safety, environmental management and wider corporate responsibility within the company and the supply chain.

The assurances provided to customers by our Achilles UVDB approval will not be limited just to the Utilities sector because the same systems and processes will be applied across the board to all our customers, however large or small.

VOLVO PENTA CENTRE Status Achieved.

Over the past year the Company has invested a lot of time and effort towards achieving

status.

We are pleased to report that on completion of the new VPC Standards program we were officially appointed as a

with the signing of a new agreement in October 2008.

What does this new status mean for our customers?

The biggest benefit you will see will be increased parts first fill, reducing costly down time for machines and the operator.

Non-stocked parts can be ordered and delivered to Runcorn overnight from Volvo Penta warehouses in Sweden and Rugby England. The new VPIM systems went live in November 2008.

As part of the new agreement, our Service Engineers are receiving High-Level Diagnostics training over a wide range of Volvo Penta engines including Commercial Marine, Leisure Marine and Industrial applications providing - One Stop Service - to our customers.

Other improvements include the expansion of our Trade Counter area where Engines, Parts and Volvo Penta product information will visible and accessible to our customers.

On the 9^th July 2008 signed a new five year agreement with Deutz AG renewing a long association between the two companies which were established within 19 years of each other.

Deutz founded by Nikolaus Otto in 1848 and James Troop Founded by Mr James Troop in 1867.

James Troop & Co Ltd has been associated with Deutz for 34 years and are able to offer a first class competitive service from highly experienced trained staff.

Re appointed as the official North West Distributor covering North Wales, Chester to Carlisle, West of the Pennines & the I .O. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Griffiths as the Companies new

Business Development Manager.

Steve served his apprenticeship with Woodward's of Formby in the Massey Ferguson Section then moved within the Local Industrial Construction and FLT sectors gaining extensive experience with Industrial, Plant and Fork lift truck applications.

Steve then joined Milford Motors Liverpool, Perkins Distributor, in 1977 as Technical Sales Engineer eventually becoming General Manager. In 1998 he joined Perkins Engines at Peterborough as Part of the Distributor Sales and Development Management team Looking after accounts in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia - later becoming part of the Business Development team within the C.A.T / Perkins World Wide Parts Distribution Centre at Irlam Manchester.
